NorEnviro facilitates that research organisations and companies can make LCA data available via a common infrastructure, and therefore functions as a national library for LCA data.

Through NorEnviro, research organisations have the opportunity to make part of their research available in the form of LCA data. This has become a requirement in projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council and the EU. In addition, Norwegian companies have the opportunity to share information and LCA data about their products and processes. This allows decision-making to be informed by the most specific available data.

The individual data provider is responsible for data quality. However, NorEnviro facilitates standardisation as far as possible and will develop systems for quality assurance, a common methodological basis, and metadata.

NorEnviro’s primary target group is LCA experts. LCA data will be available in several LCA data formats (ILCD, Ecospold v2, Simapro CSV) for import into different types of LCA software.

NorEnviro has been established under the auspices of NORSUS (formerly Østfoldforskning) and NMBU with the aim to increase the (re)use of LCA data. This is achieved by facilitating that LCA data from different research sources is made available.
