NorEnviro facilitates that research organisations and companies can make LCA data available via a common infrastructure, and therefore functions as a national library for LCA data.

Through NorEnviro, research organisations have the opportunity to make part of their research available in the form of LCA data. This has become a requirement in projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council and the EU. In addition, Norwegian companies have the opportunity to share information and LCA data about their products and processes. This allows decision-making to be informed by the most specific available data.

Each individual data provider is responsible for data quality. However, NorEnviro facilitates standardisation and has developed a common system for metadata.

 LCA data will be available in several LCA data formats for import into different types of LCA software. Companies can also get access to the LCA results of the datasets (e.g. CO2 eq.), to facilitate use of data in tools or similar.
